Sunday

Breakfast: toasted crumpet, thin layer of low fat cream cheese, microgreens, havarti, a tiny drizzle of pesto and a few tomato slices

After breakfast Clover and I went for a walk.

I went to my neighbor's Easter brunch with her family at 11:30 this morning. It was really fun and the food was awesome. The weather was perfect so we all sat in her screened in back porch. Her grandson loves to pretend to be Clover--I call out commands and he follows them and I give him pretend treats. He's turning five soon--I wonder how long he'll still find this fun. I really like Kathleen's family. I also miss my own. I missed Passover last night which saddens me every year. It's hard to be away.

Eric's beehive was delivered unassembled and today he put it together. He even let me help with the gluing. Our whole living room is a beehive building studio right now.

Nothing much else to report on this slow and peaceful Sunday afternoon. Happy Easter, Passover and spring!

Sweet things

Yesterday I brought Clover to work with me. She was sitting in my lap while I was doing paperwork and apparently wanted more attention because she blocked me from writing with her cute little face.

This morning the first cucumber sprouts came up in the grow box!

After my run this morning when I got back to my car in the parking lot this was on my windshield. Haha, Eric Frey! YOU are cute. He was working at the Rillito today.

A few other things:
1. Last week is over. I survived!
2. Two hour long massages at the massage school this morning, one of them was amazing
3. An invitation to Easter brunch at our neighbor, Kathleen's house
4. Clover and I ran 35 minutes in the wash this morning and it was kind of cloudy.
5. Leftover spaghetti from last night's dinner
6. I slept pretty well last night for the first time in a few days
7. I'm about to meditate in the backyard and then finish my book, or take a nap...we'll see how it goes.
8. Yesterday one of my favorite patients said he wished that I was his daughter or granddaughter.
9. Another one of my favorite patients was having uncontrolled pain and somehow, with the right combination of drugs, we got it back under control again.

Five things

1. The work day is over.
2. I think maybe the empathy and support I gave to a couple of my coworkers today was helpful. Sometimes the few years of Compassionate Communication training comes in handy.
3. Two more days of supervising (I would be more grateful if it were zero more days, but whatever.)
4. Eric's supportive listening
5. Dinner at Whole Foods

I need to plan a celebration for Friday night to mark the end of this, but probably all I'll want to do is sleep.

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Five things

1. A good night's sleep last night
2. This morning my mind was a little quieter than usual when I was meditating.
3. A good sandwich for lunch
4. Quality time with Eric--we went to Mama's Pizza for spaghetti and salad. That's what I had planned on making for dinner but got home too late from work. We ran into my friend, Jen there. It was so nice to see her.
5. This day is finally over. Today I told my boss' boss that if the supervisor position ever came open and he wanted me to take it, I would require 200K/year, "because that's how much I would have to be paid to be miserable, which I am right now. And even then I wouldn't want the job, just so you know." Guess who isn't getting a promotion? THIS GIRL. Three more days of supervising.

Today we admitted a really nice older lady. Her family was so supportive and caring. It was beautiful to see. I'm grateful for that experience too. And it's fun getting to train our new admissions nurse, Vicki. She's great.

Eats and five things

Last night I made ginger molasses cookies for Eric. See, he does our laundry (because it's one of his crafts) and then because I am lazy I leave it on the dresser until Friday when I finally put it away. So I came up with this scheme: it is much easier for me to make cookies than it is to put my clothes away. So we have a deal, he now puts my laundry away and I make him cookies every week. This works out great for both of us because our bedroom is neater and there are cookies around. I was a little behind though because of being so busy at work, so that's why I made the orange poppyseed ones on Thursday and these last night. I think these are the best cookies I've ever made. Here's the recipe. Eric photo bombed the picture! Ha!

This was the salad we had with our dinner last night, and I made it again tonight.

1. Eric for washing our dishes and doing our laundry--yes, I am very lucky.
2. Four more days of supervising, yes I dislike it that much.
3. Clover being such a snuggle bug
4. The book I've been reading: Trauma Stewardship
5. Today one of my patients really opened up about his life. He told me stories about his career as a pianist and about the severe depression that he had when he was younger. He rarely lets me see more than what's on the surface, so I felt really grateful and honored. He's a special man, I am happy to have this time with him.

Five things

1. Mead and I went out to breakfast at Poco and Mom's. We shared split the chile rellenos with 2 over-medium eggs, beans, tortillas and hash browns. It was delicious.
2. Then we came back home and drank tea out in the garden.
3. E and I have been sitting out in the garden reading for hours now.

4. It's warm and breezy and perfect out.
5. Our sweet garden

Planting and five (+2)things

We bought a dwarf satsuma mandarin tree from the nursery today! The gardening wizard, Henry said if we're lucky we might even have fruit this year!

These are the grow boxes all set up:

These are tomatoes: one Sun Leaper and one Super Sweet Cherry

This will be 6 cucumber plants.

In the grow box not pictured there will be miniature yellow bell peppers, okra and squashes. We know that this is pretty much a cheater cheater method of gardening but we'll be doing the "from seed" in the raised bed/water trough kind too. I guess I just wanted as close to a guarantee as I could get that we would be able to grow some good tomatoes this year. If this doesn't do it then seriously, all bets are off. Tomatoes and I will be done for as long as I live in Arizona (until next year when I foolishly try again.)

1. A long talk with Wendy
2. My mom is moved in to her new home now.
3. A relaxing morning
4. Indian food with Eric
5. Stopping by the farmers' market--Eric bought me this really special jam called Rolling Thunder--it has apricots, chilies and other assorted neat stuff. It is spicy and delicious. What a nice gift. We also got a tomato.
6. Garden progress
7. It's Saturday.

Friday, March 22, 2013

Five (+2) things

1. It's Friday night! At last! My 50 hour week is over. I'm half way through my stint as supervisor.
2. My grow boxes came today! I am hoping to plant them in the morning.
3. My mom's move is going so well.
4. We got our first farm box from Sunizona today: a pint of little yellow tomatoes, 3 red tomatoes, green beans, radishes, greens, lettuce, microgreens, other microgreens and a cucumber. There might have been something else that I'm forgetting. I'm most excited about the tomatoes and microgreens.
5. I came home exhausted to steak, baked potatoes and asparagus. Yay! Eric is such a good cook.
6. Some of my coworkers are so kind and supportive. Without them I would lose it. Oh wait, I did lose it. And they were really kind and supportive of that too. At one point I just said, "yeah, I'm going to go cry it out. I'll be back in five minutes to deal with all this." What's really neat is that I didn't feel once tiny bit of judgment from anyone. Pretty rad.
7. E and I are about to watch some Battlestar Galactica. Oh mindless t.v. watching, I am so very happy to do that.

Life around here

Chickpea laying an egg, this is the only time that I can go into the chicken run without being attacked by her. She used to be the sweetest and friendliest of the three, now she is the most aggressive. Hmph.

Orange poppyseed cookies

Pictures and five things

Look at the progress! The brown spot on the okra leaf in the back, center is actually part of the seed that it sprouted from. NEAT!

This morning Rocksy and Mcqueen were both in the nesting box at the same time laying their eggs. Of course Mcqueen couldn't just pose for the picture she had to stand up and moon me! Meanwhile Chickpea was pecking at my arms while I was trying to snap the shot.

1. I got kind of irritated at work just now, so I decided to come home and work from here for a few hours. I usually don't have this option, so I'm very grateful to have it today.
2. Iced tea, the drink, not the rapper Ice T, as great of a song as Cop Killer was, cough cough.
3. A meaningful conversation between most of our team at work about coping with the tragedy that we see every day and how we can best support each other
4. It's cloudy today.
5. My mom's move is going smoothly.
6. I'm hoping to go to dance class tonight, work permitting.
7. Dinner plan: cheesy quinoa cakes, a salad sort of like this one, and chicken sausages. Oh also thinking about making some orange poppyseed cookies or maybe oatmeal?

"it's all about enjoying"

Our okra sprouted today!

After 1.5 days of supervising our crew I am feeling immensely grateful to not be a supervisor in my real job. Customer service is a big part of nursing, but it is an even bigger part of my boss' job. I understand a little better now what kind of pressure she is under every day. I'm thanking my lucky stars that patient care is the focus of my job most of the time.

One patient's gratitude for the care I give him--I don't do the job for the gratitude, but it is really sweet when it does arise.

I ordered three Grow Boxes from www.agardenpatch.com to see if that helps with the tomato crops this year. My childhood best friend, Britta wrote to me about how wonderful they are for growing tomatoes. I'll take some pictures once they get here and I assemble them.

One of my patients and his wife had a conversation with me today and said how when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer they decided to buy an RV and travel the U.S., only to quickly realize that they didn't that kind of time left of level of wellness to enjoy such a trip. "So we just try to enjoy every single day as deeply as we can, no matter who we are with or what happens, it's all about enjoying." I am grateful for this reminder.

Eric did so many things today to make our house cleaner, nicer and more energy efficient.

I am taking him to Sweet Tomatoes on a date for dinner!

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Five things

1. We signed up to receive a farm box of organic veggies every week from Sunizona Family Farms. It's really neat because we can pick it up between 1-7pm on Fridays at the Whole Foods that just opened two miles from our house. I have wanted to join Tucson's CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for years now but couldn't justify driving the 13 miles (roundtrip) each week to go pick it up. Besides, the pickup window was short for Tucson's CSA and right during rush hour. I am really excited to go get our first farm box this coming Friday. Another reason to love Fridays!
2. I bought these two teas today: the one on the left was my favorite black tea when I was in nursing school in Flagstaff. I would go to the bookstore and order a cup to drink while trying to memorize tiny details and the big picture all at once. It's delicious with milk and honey. W--have you tried this? If not, I'll mail you a couple of bags.
3. Clover seems to approve of the choices.

4. We've had several pitchers of iced tea this weekend: Country Peach Passion, Acai Berry with Mango, green tea mixed with two bags of Tazo's passion. My massage therapist chatted with me in depth about the importance of staying hydrated. Iced herbal and green teas really help me to enjoy the consumption of fluids.
5. Relaxing around the house and getting a lot of things accomplished were both good parts of my day.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Five (+4) things I am grateful for today

1. It's Saturday
2. The weather
3. Last night's dinner: homemade mac and cheese, roasted broccoli, sauteed asparagus, green beans and red peppers

4. Mead's boyfriend, Phoenix is in an Irish band and St. Patrick's Day is their big weekend every year. He gets really into the holiday, as you can see.

5. A walk with Clover just now, the temperature outside is exactly perfect. We saw these flowers:

6. A wonderful massage this morning
7. Lunch and a little fun with Mead
8. A few new spices from Penzeys: cinnamon, Hungarian paprika, more garlic powder and more minced garlic
9. Right now I am going to switch out my winter clothes to my summer clothes in the closet. I get really excited every time I switch, in the fall and in the spring. I love changing seasons. And for the record, Tucson does have seasons: perfect, too hot, perfect, and a little chilly.

Lucky Seven

1. I am so tired that my exhaustion feels comfortable. I don't know if that makes any sense outside of my head! I mean I have no drive to do absolutely anything so I am not pulled in multiple directions, just towards bed. I feel totally relaxed.
2. Tomorrow is Friday which means the weekend will start once again!
3. Dance class after work today was so much fun
4. Thai takeout as a special treat
5. I had time to come home for lunch, eat healthy and let Clover out.
6. Wendy's comments on my blog--it's so fun when y'all write comments!
7. Eric is so sweet. He just washed my dinner dish, my reusable lunch bags and offered to rub my back. What a nice fellow.

Some awesomeness

Yesterday I had another really good breakfast: hard boiled egg, (the really fresh ones are tough to peal!) two clementines, half an avocado with dukkah seasoning from Trader Joe's and nutritional yeast, dried coconut slices that Wendy brought back from Hawaii, tortilla chips, (yes, I eat chips for breakfast--it's never too early to be really happy, after all) a carrot and green tea. (Mom, this is what it means to be old and really cool!)

The novelty hasn't worn off:

Wendy sent me a wonderful birthday care package (HECK yes, I am still celebrating!) It has special teas, coconut slices, coral and a really neat necklace.

I started work at six this morning so I am already off!

It's in the 80's today. Goodbye scrubs, hello sun dress!

Eric texted to request a certain recipe for dinner. I think that's really cute. I thought I was the only one thinking about dinner earlier in the day.

Lunch with my friend/coworker, Danielle

I am training a newly hired nurse while my boss is on vacation. I like training people (so long as they are receptive) it reminds me of gardening.

I'm also supervising--hopefully nothing catches on fire...

In one week I'll have been with my current company one full year. I'm grateful for all of the learning and growth. I'm grateful to be doing the job I really want to do.

Alright, time to go put on that sun-dress.

Monday, March 11, 2013

Five (+1) things

1. A perfect breakfast: blueberry acai berry green tea with local mesquite honey, a hard boiled egg, sauteed collards, polenta (from Whole Foods, it was butternut squash in it, creamy deliciousness) and a clementine orange

2. While I was at work, Eric restrung the wind chimes that my parents gave to me. They started to fall apart three years ago and I always meant to fix them but never did. So they just hung missing a few chimes. When I was 25 and had just moved into a new place my dad drove over for the sole purpose of hanging them up for me. That only adds to their sentimental value. Pretty sweet that Eric spent his day off restringing them for me. It was harder than you'd think!

3. I went to lunch with my friend/coworker Stephanie. Today was a sort of "eh" day at work so breaking it up with a yummy, fun lunch was nice.
4. I did spend the end of my work day doing paperwork on the front porch in perfect weather. Mmm, Tucson in the spring, can't beat it!
5. Eric, Clover and I went for a walk after work.
6. Dinner

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Five things

1. A lot of progress in the garden
2. I meditated this morning in the backyard, it was so crisp and quiet.
3. Breakfast burritos
4. It was so nice spending all day with Eric and Clover.
5. Tonight we went out and ran errands but for some reason it was really fun. I guess it was the company.

All day outside

Two yolks!

Two eggplants in their tp rolls, I hope it isn't too early to put them out.

Eric (dressed for yard work in the AZ sunshine) and Tiny Clover (who needs some shades)

I am practicing stenciling trees on the back of the raised bed so that once perfected I can make a little grove of them on the front. First I hand paint them and then I spray paint over it for the effect that I want.

Clover thought it was best to run around and harass the chickens, alternating with frequent naps.

What a wonderful day! Now we are going to clean up, go out and rustle up some trouble.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Five (+3) things I am grateful for today

1. A great night's sleep
2. The realization I had this morning that my life right now feels just the way I want it to
3. Spending a great afternoon with Mead
4. A walk with Tiny Clover
5. Kevin stopped by with two buckets of veggie scraps for the chickens and a ziplock of blanched green beans, red peppers and asparagus for us to eat.
6. Eric decided to grill for us tonight. Yum!
7. It's Saturday.
8. Showing Kevin around the yard made me feel so proud of our hard work.

What's up

Saturday morning: watering air plants, cleaning up clutter, paying a few bills and making things nice for the rest of the week. The tea on the left is two bags of Tazo's Passion with one bag of decaf green tea. The one on the left is Celestial Seasonings' Sweet Acai Berry with Mango. It's supposed to get up to the upper 80's later this week. Iced tea season is officially here.

Here are the babies! The ones that haven't come up yet are okra.

Here are the herbs I planted in October that finally came up. The sage, cilantro and thyme are grown enough that I can tell what they are. Too small to pick, but not for long!

Here's a close up of the cilantro.

The collards are thriving! I'll be pulling them in a month of so to plant the spring/summer plants. So I guess all I can do now is enjoy them and eat them up!

In this one you can see the collards, the rainbow chard on the right, and a couple of containers of spinach on the left.

The lettuce is starting to go to seed. This will be my first year saving seeds.

This picture is not letting me rotate it. You can barely see the baby plants in the raised bed. I think this cold winter (We had 12 or 13 more days at freezing temps this year than usual) has stunted the plants' growth. Some of them don't even have their grownup leaves yet! I'll be pulling out a lot of the babies so I can put in tomatoes, squashes, okra, eggplant, etc. I think I'll leave some of the lettuce and spinach though. And of course I'll be leaving the peas. I just attached them to those bamboo sticks that I found on the ground near Cynthia's apartment a few weeks ago. The lettuce and spinach should grow just fine until it gets really hot. It seems so sacrilege to pull up the tiny baby carrots and beets before they have a chance to grow. This has been a good learning experience. I'll be planting carrots and beets earlier in the fall, not in early January! The planting guide I use said it was fine to plant them in early January but I guess that is only true in warm years and if you aren't planning to plant your spring garden too soon after.

We are chickens.

Happy Saturday! Time to do yoga and then meet Meadz for Ethiopian food at Cafe Desta. YUM! Life is good around here.

Friday, March 8, 2013

Some things I am grateful for today

1. A good night's sleep (I dreamed we suddenly had two tiny goats and two very tiny horses and a flock of chickens. My job was designing a beautiful covered area/small barn for them. I went to see an architect/designer who totally understood my taste.)

2. Wendy's interview at OHSU went well today!

3. My 1/2 day at work went smoothly.

4. The final meeting of the book group this afternoon took place outdoors (we were locked out of our usual space). The meeting itself was fascinating and inspiring, all on the topic of forgiving ourselves. And then there was the place we met--the yard between a yoga teacher's studio and her home. It was cloudy and very windy but not cold. We were a little bit protected from the wind by shade cloth and bamboo type fencing. It was so neat to sit outside for two and a half hours during a storm. It only sprinkled on us a few times.

5. After the meeting I came home and have been reading and snuggling with Clover for a few hours now.

6. We have a new nurse at work named Vicky, she spent last weekend at Upaya Zen Center doing a retreat with Joan Halifax on Death and Dying and contemplative practice (sort of like the professional training that I am doing with
her in May). She seems really calm, grounded and kind. I'm hoping she's as neat as she seems.

7. I was freed in an unexpected way at work today. I keep trying to convince one of my patients that he needs to be in a higher level of care than the independent living apartment he has been living in. I worry about him nonstop because he is at such a high risk of falling and it is very obvious to me that he isn't able to care for himself anymore. He can't keep his pills straight, he is forgetful and disoriented to time of day. He is a hoarder and his apartment is like a land mine of things to trip over. Worst of all he thinks that he is sharp as a tack and that I am the one who is confused. So today when I brought up the idea of assisted living once again, he responded, "I don't want or need any help." To which I said, "I admire your fierce independence and my intention in bringing this up is to preserve it as much as possible. See, if you fall and really hurt yourself you will require a lot more assistance than you do now. I see getting the help you need as a preventative measure in you becoming VERY dependent, as in bed bound and someone else wiping your tush." Here's the moment where I suddenly was freed of responsibility: "If I injure myself that's fine. That is the only way that I will accept assistance." Okay. Got it. It's his life, he gets to do what he wants. I appealed to his better judgement and he made a decision with all of the information I could provide. No more wringing my hands, but I will keep trying to keep his floor clear. Ay yay yay, these patients. I really hope that with more and more experience I can take great care of these people without it tearing my heart out. (I am 1/4 of the way through Trauma Stewardship and it is addressing very directly some of the hardest parts of being a hospice nurse, at least the hardest parts for me.

8. It's the weekend!

9. It looks like the chickens are crate trained!

10. I was more easily able to focus while meditating this morning than lots of other times.

11. I asked my boss if I could bring Clover to work with me during the two weeks that she'll be gone and I'll be acting supervisor and mostly working in the office. She responded by saying, "I don't know why you don't bring her every day." It was really nice because everyone in the office got really excited to have Clover come in for a couple of weeks.

12. A little bit of rain.

13. A couple of days ago I planted the tomato seeds that we got at the library. They have this new program called, "the seed library" where you check out seeds, grow the plant and then save seeds from the plant you grow and return those seeds to the library after that season ends. They are these nice black/purple heirloom tomatoes. I planted them in t.p. rolls.

14. I'm grateful to other nurses who covered my patients this afternoon (in case of falls, deaths, unexpected problems) so that I could go relax outside, meditate and discuss the forgiveness chapter of Radical Acceptance.

15. A care home owner who seemed pretty indifferent to me yesterday was nice to me today. Also a caregiver at an assisted living facility was really nice to me. I hadn't had a patient in this facility through hospice and she treated me with such kindness and respect. It was really refreshing and a reminder of how I want to treat people.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures of the garden/seedlings this weekend. Good night!

Five (x2+1) things I am grateful for today

I have been trying to train the chickens to lay eggs in a place where I can reach them. I bought this box at a friend's yard sale a few weeks back and have tried to make it as cozy as possible with alfalfa and cedar shavings. They ate the alfalfa and otherwise pretty much ignored it and continued to lay in their favorite spot. Today I put the box in their favorite spot (under the coop, next to a cement block up against the chain link) and look what I found! And they were all nestled up, I didn't move them for the picture.

2. A little while back Wendy added a book to her goodreads account that intrigued the crud out of me! I wrote a comment asking her to let me know what she thought about it once she had read it. Guess what showed up on my doorstep today? The Science of Good Cooking!!!! Eeeeeee!!! I literally had to completely spaz out in the kitchen when I opened it. Thank you, Wendy! I am SO excited to read this!

3. I am working a half day tomorrow and going to the last of the meetings of the book group for Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach.

4. Today I did seven visits. Five of them were with our social worker, Stephanie. I think social work and nursing can be so complementary when both people are on the same page. We also went to lunch at one of my favorite places.

5. A walk with Tiny Clover after work.

6. Linguine with Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions and marinara, and a salad for dinner

7. Eric is washing the dishes right now.

8. Tomorrow is Friday!

9. Living without chronic pain

10. I have meditated seven days in a row. This morning Clover laid on me while I meditated. Practicing lovingkindness meditation with her snuggling me makes it even more relaxing and wonderful.

11. Last week my neighbor mentioned this retreat and I am thinking about doing it. (Wendy, want to come? I invited Mead too. And Kathleen across the street, who told me about it, is thinking about going too.) I love the description: "Whether it is during sunset meditations, listening to the soothing sounds of the river, or sitting graced in the stillness of the aspen trees, we will open to the profound serenity and wisdom of nature." Yes, please. I haven't decided for sure, but it sounds like a pretty awesome vacation.

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Five things

1. I enjoyed my work today.
2. Time in the yard after work
3. Eric took me out to dinner at Whole Foods
4. My library reserve arrived today! A clinical psychologist I met at the Sharon Salzberg retreat last weekend recommended it to help me cope with my job. It's called Trauma Stewardship.
5. After going to Whole Foods and the library, we went to Sprouts (formerly known as Sunflower Market) and took advantage of an awesome sale. Buy one, get one free of all sorts of awesome stuff. Our kitchen is full of healthy deliciousness and some treats too!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Five things

1. Clover
2. A pretty good day at work
3. Our neighbor, Kathleen
4. Veggies and tofu for lunch and sandwiches for dinner
5. The high was 77 degrees today.

Monday, March 4, 2013

Five (+3) things I am grateful for today

1. My mama

2. All three chickens laid eggs today. It's the first day that we've found three eggs in the run. Here's Rocksy laying hers:

3. Eric and I walked four miles with Tiny Clover at sunset.

4. I got out of work a little early today.

5. My patients' trust

6. Hope for humanity/people taking care of each other

7. I sat for 30 minutes this morning.

8. I could feel the effect of meditating for two days throughout my work time and afternoon. It felt natural to be wholly present and more openhearted.

Sunday, March 3, 2013

Five things

1. This morning a friend brought over a bunch of veggie scraps for the chickens.
2. Eric woke up in time to hang out with me before I went to the retreat this morning.
3. Today's lunch

4. An amazing day meditating and listening to Sharon Salzberg. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity. She and Pema Chodron are my two favorite meditation teachers. It was also really sweet being around so many other people who prioritize doing their part to make the world a better place. I am resuming my (at least) 30 minutes a day sitting practice.
5. A walk with Clover and Eric at sunset in Sam Hughes neighborhood

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Five (x2) things I am grateful for today

1. I slept 10 glorious hours last night and finally woke up feeling really rested.
2. Seven eggs in the fridge. Now all three chickens are laying.
3. Today was the first whole day of the meditation retreat with Sharon Salzberg. It was so inspiring, interesting and just plain wonderful.
4. I was able to focus for most of the day and my body didn't get too sore with all the sitting.
5. My friend Tesa was there and it was so nice to sit with her and see her.
6. Date night!
7. Sharon quoted some study about how making a daily gratitude list is one of the best things you can do to be happy. Always nice to have some positive reinforcement, even if I don't blog my list every single day.
8. I ate lunch with a bunch of really nice people on some soft grass under a tree. We don't have a whole lot of soft grass in Southern Arizona, so this felt like a big treat.
9. For lunch I had a carrot, some lavender goat cheese, olive tapenade, an apple, some small and delicious yellow tomatoes, mesquite roasted pistachios, prosciutto, pecan-rice crackers and a pickle. Foo-foo-la-la deliciousness!
10. Time to walk Tiny Clover

Good morning!

Here's a look inside our refrigerator!
I would like to make this recipe in the next couple of days. I don't always use asparagus, especially when it's not in season. I might use collards, shallots and mushrooms to prevent a trip to the store.

Sometimes I take "good morning" pictures for Eric on the weekends when he is at work from me and Tiny Clover. Here's one I took this morning. Clover decided to shake things up at the last minute a second before she had her head tucked under mine!

I just noticed the carrots are getting their first real leaves! I've been surprised by how slowly things are growing and wondering if they are needing some organic fertilizer? I'll have to research that...

Okay, time to get ready to spend the day with Sharon Salzberg! Wishing you a relaxed and mindful day.
